Apple Watch Series 5 Display: Always-On Retina Display
- 1.78″ LTPO OLED Capacitive Touchscreen Display
- Resolution – 368 x 448 px
- Refresh rate can go as low as 1Hz
- Always-on Display
Apple Watch series 5 features a 1.78″ LTPO OLED Capacitive Touchscreen Display with a resolution of 368 x 448 px. It has a pixel density of 326ppi with a screen-to-body ratio of approx ~60%. The standout feature added to Series 5 is Always-on display, which most of the users were waiting for. In this feature the display gets dim when not in use (inactive) and brightens up when you raise your wrist to make it active. Tho it has a negative impact on the battery life.
The device has a variable refresh rate, which allows the refresh rate to drop down as low as 1Hz when it’s inactive. By this way, it maintains the 18 hours battery life even with an Always-on Display. The display is protected with Ion-x Strengthened glass, which protects the display from scratches. The screen can go upto the maximum brightness of 1000 nits, which allows you to view the screen clearly under the bright sun.

Storage and Battery
- Internal Storage – 32 GB
- Battery – 296 mAh
Apple Watch Series 5 has an internal storage of 32 GB. The storage space was increased as compared to Series 4 which is a good thing. I don’t think that you’d have any problem with the storage space for Apple Watch Series 5.
The device is powered by a 296 mAh (1.13Wh) battery which runs out quickly due to Always-on Display feature. The users are not happy with the battery life of Series 5. I won’t suggest you to upgrade to new Apple Watch Series 5 just because you want some additional features.
