Why Pubg got Banned in India?

Pubg Mobile and Pubg Mobile lite got banned in India along with other 116 Chinese origin apps – which means you won’t be able to install Pubg Mobile and Pubg Mobile lite on your iOS and Android devices. The official statement of 118 Chinese origin apps getting banned including Pubg Mobile and Pubg Mobile lite, was announced on Wednesday (September 2, 2020).

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India under section 69A, banned 118 apps because they are engaged in activities which is prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order.

You can download the official Press Release Statement – 118 Chinese apps along with Pubg Mobile banned in India.

Tho on Friday (September 4, 2020), Tencent (Developer of Pubg Mobile) said that ” It would engage with government authorities to bring back Pubg in India”. Reportedly India is one of the biggest platform for Pubg, having over 50 million active users per day.

Can we still play Pubg if we already have it installed?

It looks like you can still play Pubg Mobile and Pubg Mobile lite if you have it installed on your device. Tho it is not available on Google Play and App store, so if you accidentally delete the game you can’t download it again. But I think that soon the government will order the ISPs (Internet Service Providers) to block the server access to Pubg Mobile in India.

Can we still play Pubg using VPN?

As you can play the game if you have it installed in your device, so it is obvious that you can play it using VPN for now. However it is likely that the government will enforce a blanket ban on 118 apps that have been banned, which includes Pubg Mobile and Pubg Mobile Lite. Which means that you won’t be able to play Pubg anymore even after using VPN. So I suggest before buying a paid VPN, you should confirm whether Pubg works on the VPN after the blanket ban is enforced.

What are the alternatives of Pubg Mobile?

PUBG Mobile Alternatives are:

  1. Call Of Duty Mobile – Google Play Store
  2. Garena Free Fire 3volution – Google Play store
  3. Last Day on Earth Survival – Google Play store
  4. Battlelands Royale – Apple App Store / Google Play Store

After the ban of Pubg Mobile in India, nCore games (Bengaluru-based compoany) is developing a game known as FAU-G which is backed by Akshay Kumar. The report also says that 20% of game’s revenue will be donated to the government’s fund-raising initiative Bharat Ke Veer. I personally strongly support this game, as the release of the game will benefit the army of INDIA.
